OUR MISSION
Dande is a big and truly impressive ancient landscape with vital linkages between the protected areas of the Lower Zambezi Valley in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia.
Our mission is to help preserve it and where possible improve biodiversity and the livelihoods of the local people through sensible and carefully regulated sustainable use of the natural resources. We recognise that long-term wildlife conservation in communal landscapes depends on carefully balancing protection, responsible utilisation, and community benefit.
DAPU is there to assist and compliment local government and law enforcement agencies to fill the gaps and to make sure that the work gets done not just talked about!
Prior to DAPU’s intervention, high levels of exploitation and illegal harvesting had eroded wildlife populations, and the general biodiversity of the area. DAPU has intervened to help restore lawful, regulated stewardship of natural resources for the benefit of the local population and the country as a whole.
